Professional Background and Experience
In 1998, Keith developed the World’s first multi-professional,
inter-disciplinary postgraduate course in accessibility issues, the
MSc in Inclusive Environments: design and management.
National and International Roles in Access Related Issues:
Practice
- Member of the Working Group on the Built Environment set up as part
of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC).
- Member of the British Standards sub-committee which assisted in the
development of British Standard BS 8300: 2001, “Access to Buildings
for Disabled People”.
- Member of the British Standards committee currently reviewing British
Standard BS 8300: 2001, “Access to Buildings for Disabled People”.
- Member of the DRC panel reviewing Part M (2004).
- Chairman of the Advisory Panel to JMU Access Partnership.
- Member of the Editorial Board of the Access Journal.
Academic
- Founder of the Research Group for Inclusive Environments at
The University of Reading.
- Co-founder of the “International Forum of Research into Lighting,
Emergency Lighting and Wayfinding for Sensory Impaired People”.
