In 1998, Keith developed the World’s first multi-professional, inter-disciplinary postgraduate course in accessibility issues, the MSc in Inclusive Environments: design and management.

Member of the Working Group on the Built Environment set up as part of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC).
Member of the British Standards sub-committee which assisted in the development of British Standard BS 8300: 2001, “Access to Buildings for Disabled People”.
Member of the British Standards committee currently reviewing British Standard BS 8300: 2001, “Access to Buildings for Disabled People”.
Member of the DRC panel reviewing Part M (2004).
Chairman of the Advisory Panel to JMU Access Partnership.
Member of the Editorial Board of the Access Journal.

Academic

Founder of the Research Group for Inclusive Environments at The University of Reading.
Co-founder of the “International Forum of Research into Lighting, Emergency Lighting and Wayfinding for Sensory Impaired People”.
